QuarantineLife:

Hi Friends!

Hope everyone has been surviving quarantine life. It seems like it’s been ages since I’ve posted, and I suppose it has been since I took a bit of a hiatus. Today is my second day back to work, and I am SO HAPPY to be back at the library (even if it is only once a week).

If you’re anything like me, you’ve been using quarantine life to catch up on your reading/tv bingeing (in addition to those house projects and work responsibilities). The best part of librarian life from home is being able to dive into ALL THE PROJECTS. I’ve been buckling down on book club reads, painting my kitchen (pictures to come), and knocking off a few TBR titles and shows I’ve been meaning to watch for AGES.

Hope everyone has been staying safe, busy, and happy!

What have you all been doing to keep busy these last few months?

Post-Vacation Blues.

After an impromptu trip to Hawaii, I am back at work and wondering how I can possibly claw myself out of this reading slump I somehow find myself stuck in. Reading is always better on a beach, isn’t it? Well, I took a handy Nicholas Sparks book (because they never fail me), and I’m binge-reading book club (Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver), and I’m thoroughly enjoying them both (fingers crossed my rut will be over!!). However, I could live on the beach for AGES…this Utah weather hasn’t quite warmed up enough for my liking. And to top it all off, I now have the ultimate post-vacation blues…it was Hawaii after all.

So if you have any ultimate anti-reading-slump favorites please send them my way, because this has been never ending for me! Also…don’t you hate when you’re in a slump and Goodreads is constantly reminding you how behind you are on your reading goals?! Negative point of the Reading Challenge. Maybe I need to get rid of it so I stop feeling so inadequate! (Has anyone tried this??)

Also Kauai Highlights: The Kountry Kitchen has the BEST coconut syrup. I now live for Puka Dogs. Wishes under waterfalls are the only way to go. I now have the urge to learn how to surf. The four hour time difference did WONDERS on my night-owl habits…is this life before 8 am?! Embrace the rain…and the humidity…and the imminent curls that surely follow.

Too soon to go back? I could get used to island life in a HURRY. Eagerly awaiting my next adventure!

Life Update

Hi all!

It has been ages since I have posted so let me catch you up:

  • I started a new job as a Public Services Librarian and am LOVING it
  • This also has me spearheading our book club which is an entirely new experience for me! (I’m posting our books and dates if you want to read along with us!)
  • I’m also trying to implement more reading into my daily life (because some how I’ve been slacking…and let’s face it, that is the WORST)
  • I’m planning a road trip…because who doesn’t need a good roadtrip?? (L.A. -> San Francisco)
  • Because it’s also a new year, and I’m trying to work out at least HALF as much as I read and watch TV
    • Speaking of…new obsessions:
      • A Million Little Things
      • All American
      • The Good Wife
      • Community
      • Janet the Virgin
    • On the reading side:

      • Crooked House by: Agatha Christie
      • To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by: Jenny Han
      • Into the Water by: Paula Hawkins

Basically, life is busy and full of all sorts of new adventures…and I’m going to be better at updating more often..because let’s face it, life is better with blogging in it, right?

JETLAGGED?

Well, I recently returned from Florida and I have been SO sluggish…what constitutes Jet-Lag? Can I call it Jet-Lag if the time difference was only 2-hours and my flight got in at 11:00pm? Not to mention, yesterday was my day off and I still feel like I haven’t recovered. I’m blaming:

  1. The Heat
  2. The Humidity sucked the life out of me
  3. The two weeks I have left of my Grad Program (!!)
  4. The upcoming stress of moving (yep, moving again!)
  5. The improbable JET-LAG

Needless to say: I need a vacation following my vacation! Luckily, I have the next two days off before my next work day…SO I can catch up on my reading, sleeping, and maybe if I feel motivated packing/homework. I’ve been in slightly a bookish slump (in that I haven’t had much time for reading [not for lack of fabulous books at my fingertips]), so I’m hoping to get back into my reading. My audiobooks, on the other hand, have been taking AGES for me to finish. HOW DO I STILL HAVE 30 DISCS?! Perks of taking on beasts of some books. They are definitely a marathon, but I’m enjoying them! Happy reading all! Hopefully this summer heat does not get the best of us!
