Happy Banned Books Week, all!
Celebrate your right to read with a banned a book. I had a blast putting together our display for the week. All of these books have been challenged for one reason or another. We’ve got booklists available to the curious reader, quotes from the books on display, and “I stand for the banned” postcards.
A couple of my favorite quotes from my favorite banned books:
“Burdens are for shoulders strong enough to carry them.” ~Gone with the Wind by: Margaret Mitchell
“It doesn’t matter who you are or what you look like, as long as somebody loves you.” ~The Witches by: Roald Dahl
“It’s strange because sometimes, I read a book, and I think I am the people in the book.” ~The Perks of Being a Wallflower by: Stephen Chbosky
“The loneliest moment in someones life is when they are watching their whole world fall apart, and all they can do is stare blankly.” ~The Great Gatsby by: F. Scott Fitzgerald

I feel so left out by the fact that I didn’t even realize that some of these were banned books? I’d ask why, but I probably don’t want to know and wouldn’t understand even if someone tried to tell me lol. I’ve always loved that quote from The Great Gatsby!
Hahah everytime I see a new reason people try to ban a book, I just shake my head. It’s crazy what people come up with!
ME TOO. It’s one of my favorites, but then again, I love most quotes by Fitzgerald! lol
