Real Friends.

Real friends were the kind where you pick up where you’d left off, whether it be a week since you’d seen each other or two years.

Your World.

What is family? They were the people who claimed you. In good, in bad, in parts or in whole, they were the ones who showed up, who stayed in there, regardless. It wasn’t just about blood relations or shared chromosomes, but something wider, bigger. We had many families over time. Our family of origin, the family we created, and the groups you moved through while all of this was happening: friends, lovers, sometimes even strangers. None of them perfect, and we couldn’t expect them to be. You can’t make any one person your world. The trick was to take what each could give you and build your world from it.

Rational Creatures.

I hate to hear you talk about all women as if they were fine ladies instead of rational creatures. None of us want to be in calm waters all our lives.

Couples take care of each other, Clare, that’s what makes them a couple. And couples tell each other when something happens that scares them.

You know, you spend your whole life feeling like you don’t quite fit in anywhere. And then you walk into a room one day, whether it’s at university or an office or some kind of club, and you just go, ‘Ah. There they are.’ And suddenly you feel at home.

I’m back!

Don’t mind me…I’ve just been venturing through my first year in Grad School, thus my lack of posts over the last few months. So, for that I apologize! I have been reading endlessly in my studies to become a librarian, the good news is I will have many a new quotes to post here. I’m also working on adding a place for quote suggestions and/or reading recommendations, because, as you all know, we readers are always in need of suggestions.

I’m so excited to get back into posting regularly, to reflect on the many great books I’ve been reading, and to share my favorite quotes with you all. Books are magical and that has become even more evident over the last few months as I’ve discovered so many new genres and authors!

Let me know your favorites quotes, authors, and/or books. At the time, because I know how we readers change them daily/weekly/monthly!
