Top 10: Quotes I Loved From Books This Past Year

This year has been a great year for books for me. I have read some of my very favorites, that I’m sure I will reread in years to come. Today, the ladies at The Broke and The Bookish are spotlighting our favorite quotes from the books we’ve read this year. As you probably know, this is one of my favorite topics because I get to revisit some quotes that I’ve already posted, and other new ones that I have yet to share. I have read quite the emotional books and others that were hilarious, but overall great reads. Here’s a handful of my favorite quotes/moments so far this year:

“Sometimes,” Jem said, “our lives can change so fast that the change outpaces our minds and hearts. It’s those times, I think, when our lives have altered but we still long for the time before everything was altered–that is when we feel the greatest pain. I can tell you, though, from experience, you grow accustomed to it. You learn to live your new life, and you can’t imagine, or even really remember, how things were before.”

~Clockwork Angel by: Cassandra Clare

In the silence between the words, I hear music.

~Speak by: Laurie Halse Anderson

The worst part of holding the memories is not the pain. It’s the loneliness of it. Memories need to be shared.

~The Giver by: Lois Lowry

You saved my life, she tried to tell him. Not forever, not for good. Probably just temporarily. But you saved my life, and now I’m yours. The me that’s me right now is yours. Always.

~Eleanor & Park by: Rainbow Rowell

“Isn’t that the guy you asked me to throw soda on?”

Colton’s head jerked up. He stared first at Reece, then at me. “You asked him to throw soda on me?”

“Of course not. The boy is delirious, That’s what happens to children when they’re malnourished. They start hallucinating.” I put my hand against Reese’s forehead as though checking for a temperature. “I’m afraid he has a serious case of it.”

Colton folded his arms and continued to glare at me. “No, Charlotte, you have a serious case of it, and I’m not talking about malnourishment.”

Reese stepped away from my temperature check and toward Colton. “She said you wouldn’t melt like the Wicked Witch of the West, but you might fizz a little.” Reese turned back to me. “He never did fizz.”

“I’m about to,” Colton said. “Just watch for a few more seconds.”

~It’s A Mall World After All by: Janette Rallison

In a perfect world everything would be either black or white, right or wrong, and everyone would know the difference. But this isn’t a perfect world. The problem is people who think it is.

~Unwind by: Neal Shusterman

YES this one: “The worst part of holding the memories is not the pain. It’s the loneliness of it. Memories need to be shared.” I LOVE The Giver. Need to re-read it. It’s been over 15 years since the last read. Wow! I’m old!

That quote from The Giver: wow. That just nails it, doesn’t it?

It’s a Mall World After All is a lot of fun, love Janette Rallison.

Eleanor & Park has so many great lines.

    Thanks for sharing!
