Top 10: Best/Worst Series Enders

This weeks topic is Best and Worst Series Enders. Well I didn’t have any that I thought were THE WORST, so these are my Not The Best because they weren’t fabulous but I wouldn’t go so far as to call them awful. But as it is, I am waiting on the conclusions of a few other series (i.e. Allegiant & Champion). So I came up with my Top 8, these weekly meme is hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. They have a great blog with all things bookish. Here is my list, what are your favorite and least favorite series endings?

BEST

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by: J.K. Rowling This book is flawless. Really. If someone argues otherwise, I may or may not deem them crazy. Just saying. :) Although I was hoping for Malfoy and Harry to have a moment where they shake hands or hug or something. I do realize this is slightly unrealistic, but a girl can dream.

Abandon by: Elana Johnson First off, it is quite possible that I ended this series bawling. And I am not exaggerating. Whenever I think about this book I just remember Elana Johnson smashing my heart to pieces. But all in all it was great!

Requiem by: Lauren Oliver Has everyone seen Les Mis? When I finished this book I kept thinking of the scene at the end with all the characters singing and tearing down the barricades. “When the beating of your heart echoes the beating of the drum…” Exactly how I pictured the end of Requiem. A lot of people are bitter about the ending, but Lauren Oliver is such an amazing writer that I could not say a bad thing about it.

Mockingjay by: Suzanne Collins This is another controversial finale to a series, but as always I adored the ending. I thought everything fell into place perfectly. And the ending lines still give me chills. Well Done.

NOT THE BEST

Breaking Dawn by: Stephenie Meyer I had a really hard time finishing this one, and once I did I thought, “That was it?”. Seriously that large of a book leading up to this major battle, and surprise nothing happened. I was extremely disappointed..

The Death Cure by: James Dashner I didn’t particularly hate this ending, but I kept thinking that James Dashner just kept twisting the knife after he stabbed you. Basically, always keep your eyes open while reading his books. Otherwise, he’ll get you as soon as you let your guard down.

Reached by: Ally Condie I loved this series. Reached has some of my favorite quotes in it because it has some incredible writing. It was a bit slow on some parts and I didn’t think it needed to be as long as it was. Thus it landed on my Not The Best List instead of the Best.

Everafter by: Elizabeth Chandler Bottom Line is I adored the ending when I thought this series was just a trilogy. Then Elizabeth Chandler extended it three more books and it was very drawn out in my opinion. I found myself thinking, “Where else can she take this?” Which is usually not the reaction I normally want when reading. It ended in quite the shocking way, but it could have ended a few books ago…Not to mention the fact that she got me crying again. Don’t judge, I usually end up crying at some point. :)
